Jackie Maginnis - CEO | MPBA

Jackie Maginnis, Chief Executive Officer of the Modular & Portable Building Association (MPBA) has worked within the volumetric industry for over 35 years. Prior to her role with the MPBA she worked for a manufacturing and hire company of volumetric buildings, involved with the design and manufacturing process and the supply of buildings to all sectors of the market. 

As Chief Executive of the MPBA, Jackie plays a key role in the connecting of sectors in the modular and portable building industry.

The Association collaborates with specialist technical advisors to enhance innovation in the design and manufacture of modular buildings.

With an engineering background before moving into the construction industry in the early 2000's, the impact of the fusion of manufacturing and construction comes as no surprise. Richard has been a Director of the MPBA for 5 years, setting up the Learning Hub to close the knowledge gap across the industry and help develop a solution for possible skills shortages in the future.

Scott Tacchi joined Sir Robert McAlpine (SRM) in Oct 2022 as Head of MMC. Prior to this Scott was with the Department for Education (DfE) as Head of the ‘Modern Methods of Construction’ programme, the £3bn off site schools’ framework.

His focus is to bring all the benefits of time, quality, safety and cost savings that can be generated through the ‘integrator’ model of offsite construction and manufacture to SRM and their clients .

Prior to joining in the DfE Scott spent 20 yrs. in Consultancy, latterly as Regional Director for PM & QS practices in the Southwest (Ridge, Mott MacDonald and Mace).

Kevin is an expert in the modular building industry with over 42 years of experience in a variety of roles ranging from Business development through to Operational delivery and Executive management. Over the years he has been directly involved in securing and delivering many high-profile Category 1 volumetric modular projects across all sectors. He has been a Director of the MPBA for 13 years, the last 7 years being on an independent basis. Kevin is a keen exponent of offsite.

Simon is the ambitious, energetic leader of Lungfish Architects and has curated a collection of talented creatives with a people-centric vision of what architecture can be - driving innovation in the built environment. By challenging industry norms, Lungfish take clients on rewarding journeys via a sustainable and efficient design led approach.

With a vision to lead a very different kind of practice, Simon is at the forefront of transforming multiple sectors using MMC, designing and delivering national programmes of work for public and private sector clients. Currently the practice is developing a MMC product for Forest Schools across the UK.

Managing Director | Off Site Construction Advice Ltd

David has worked in the Off-Site Construction industry for 32 years.  Starting as Commercial Manager at Yorkon Ltd, he became Operations Manager of the Design and Build half of that business before, in 2002, being appointed Managing Director of Foremans Relocatable Buildings (now Portakabin Refurbished). In 2005, he became Managing Director of Yorkon Ltd.  He retired in 2013 and set up Off Site Construction Advice Ltd, a specialist MMC consultancy offering support and advice to clients, contractors, architects and developers.

During his career he oversaw over 1,000 separate Off Site Construction projects covering all sectors including health, retail, education, residential, restaurants, offices and laboratories.  He worked with major national clients and contractors and was responsible for the successful delivery of projects with a combined value of over £450M and a floor area of more than 430,000m2.
